Oh risen Jesus, make me worthy to share in the joy of Your Resurrection.
In the Gospel of Matthew, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary sought out the tomb of Jesus. They were greeted by an angel who told that he was not there. He had risen.
What a sight that must have been to behold. And the news. How glorious the news. Our Christ was risen and on his way to Galilee.
On there way to do as the angel commanded of them, Jesus met them to assure them that the news was true.
Today, at Mass, we encounter that risen Lord. We see for ourselves that his promise to return after three days was fulfilled. May this encounter fill our hearts with the same fear and joy that the women there experienced. Let us make haste to announce the news to those who have hidden away out of fear or despair.
Our Lord has Risen!
Feast and make merry in celebration.
And tomorrow may we follow his command to journey on the road to Galilee with the promise that we will see him again.
